As many other cities in the world, DKI Jakarta faces serious problems in the handling of floods. In the rainy season, the common floods are caused by several factors as follows: lowland areas in the northern part of Jakarta below sea level, urbanization rate, irregular population density, slum neighborhoods where scattered rubbish which rapidly triggers flooding to stagnate and increase rather than recede. This flood is mainly due not only to the above factors but also the decrease of the average land of 5-10 cm per year. This paper reviews the eviction program undertaken by DKI Jakarta government for flood prevention during the rainy season. Evidently there are 193 cases of evictions in 2016 in Jakarta which is 83 cases higher than in 2015. The eviction program also does not provide solutions to overcome the problem of flooding where floods have just occurred by the end of 2017. Instead, the program creates economic and social impact for citizens who evicted such as lost their homes, property, employment, their rights and etc.
